This  week we went to room 1 for ASB Getwise and then we play a game called Getwise  be in groups of  5 and we were commnetcatea about what group name should we have our group name called money saver so we have to movatated to each other for a plan to fiji so first we had the fake money then we had to experiments the money to fiji.

Maths addition and Subtraction

This week we were practicing our addition and subtraction strategies. We had three levels of questions to choose from and had to decide after reading the questions which level challenged us the most. I have created DLO to show the strategy I used to solve the question I enjoyed answering. Which strategy would you have used?

Pie chart

 LI: To  plan and carry out a statistical investigation



For Maths today our task was to make a pie chart of LS2's favorite anime. First we had to decide what our question would be then go around and ask people what their favourite anime is and record the information.

To help us colllate the information we got an A3 piece paper and and we had to cut out the squares with our answers on, then  glue it on the paper so we could easily see our data.

This task was pretty easy but hard at the same time because we had to collect a lot of data.

Weighty Challenge 1(The Adding Addicts)

LI: To create a DLO to explain how we solved the problem. 


This week for maths we were learning measurments. In this subject we were talking about weight. The unit for measurement for weight are - grams, kilograms, tonnes etc. In groups we solved 3 problem challenges. For these challenges we wrote down answers in on pieces of paper. After we solved these challenges we created a DLO explaining our strategy and how we got our answer. For our strategy we used Place Value and a calculator because the numbers were too big for us to solve. In my group was Liletina, Hosea, Jayden, Leroy and Diana.

Making Connections to problem solving

Explore to Making Connections to problem solving 
Ls 2 and Ls 1 were making Tangrams and trying to solve a problem what is Problem solving Problem solving is when you try to communicate by (working together ) and listened to Follow instructions So the  simple instructions  we were given on  how to create an ancient  Chinese   Tangram puzzels and problem solve .  We used  one piece  of AV paper and  we used scissors to cut  our paper to  create   our Tangram puzzel  and  I and Wairaka from LS1  collaborated together and communicated together to try and problem solve our Tangrams puzzle to make  different kind of animals . Me and Wairaka found making animals out of our Tangram puzzle hard until we asked  each other for helped and  we communicated by asking question by asking why is this puzzle different to each others . I  and Wairaka  managed to make a cat and a duck out of our Tangram puzzels   by asking for each other for help and working together as a team  .

Math Game

                          LI: to practice defining math vocabulary (Words)

To help us practice the meaning of math words Mrs Anderson taught us the game math words Challenge I worked with Liletina and pouvi 
 and Pouvi on this game. To play the game 2 players found a word from the math word game,  then had to give a clue to the person trying to  figure out the math word who was sitting with their back to the other players.

Statistical InvestigationKowhaiwhai designs

LI: To carry out a statistical investigation across PBS to find the most popular kawhaiwahi design.


Our group worked collaboratively to carry out a statistical investigation to help Miss Pryde choose the winning kowhaiwhai design for our PBS Te Reo blog. When we asked the students the designs on the DLO were the most popular. If you click on the link you will see all the kowhaiwhai designs our class created.

Maths challenge






LI: To find the most efficient strategy to answer the question


This week our group practiced finding the answer to written maths questions. To do this we needed to first find the numbers we were working with. We decided the most efficient strategy was to use our times table knowledge. Being able to find how many groups of a number made this strategy efficient.

Maths


 This week for Maths we had a quiz game then We had to create a slide and then we had to ask some questions about basic facts ,fractions and other equations. Then we had to link the right answer to the correct slide and you have to link the wrong answer to the incorrect slide and we had to if you had a Incorrect slide you had to make numbers anythings then we had to do it when some people play your game if they get it Wong and it went in your Quiz you had to make anything in your incorrect slide.

Activity World Time

  LI:To apply Literacy, Numeracy and Inquiry skills to RWC activities.
For this activity I had to find out the different time zones of the countries shown in the table. These time zones had to do with when the final game in Japan at 6pm on 2nd November compared to the time zone in other countries.

Time zones are different in the Northern and Southern hemispheres.

This week for maths we did  Reflection, Translation, we made bomb grids we had to plan and a route I around the bomb in the grid we could go four a direction up down left right. They are doing the maths is a to do a be we left or right an bomb and grid book maths and because is a maths is to look at the maths is flip is a maths.

Maths

LI: to do shapes on A and P


This week for maths we were doing shapes on our Maths book. Mr Ogilvy showed us how to do the A and P on the shapes. The A means the addition in heeps of numbers. And the P means 2 numbers in multiplication. We had to do 5 shapes that were rectangles and square. After I did the shapes i had to do the addition and multiplication. Then I had to go to the next one.

LI: to make 3D shapes using paper.

This week for maths we were doing 3D using paper. The 3D shape we were making was a perymid and cube. Mr Ogilvy showed us how to draw the lines. So then we got a paper and we drawled the lines then we had to draw some tabs so we know were to fold them.
