Life

 LI:To write a Abstract noun senses poem


An abstract noun refers to an idea, quality or state that you can't see, hear, touch or smell. 

For example: Life looks like a busy street bustling with people beginging their day.

The five senses are hear, smell, taste, touch, feel.

A metaphor is comparing two things, saying one thing is the other without using 'like' or 'as'.

for example Happiness is rhe sun rising in my heart.

Cinquain Poem

LI: To write a cinquain poem to describe a sports star



This week We have been learning to write cinquain poems to help us strengthen our connections to description. A cinquain poem has 5 lines. Each line has a different purpose. Line 1 is a noun which is a name. Line 2 has 2 adjectives taht describe the noun. Line 3 has 3 verbs that end in ‘ing’ and describe the actions. Line 4 is a noun phrase which is a group of words (not a sentence) that go together to describe the noun. Line 5 is a synonym which is a word with a similar meaning to the noun. I enjoyed this activity because it give us more infromation about steven adams and also give us hints about his ideas so he can get more motivated.

Why is it important to use our PBS CARE values?

 To write an explanation using TEEL paragraphs


 

 


This week we have been revising explanation writing. Next week is our assessment week so we did this collaborative challenge to remind ourselves what is needed when we write explanations. We found it interesting the way the paragraphs all connected at the end and you could see the links between the ideas.

Wise Choices Explanation

L.I: To Write an Explanation

Why is it important to make wise choices?

Why have our animals been eating plastic?


Because people are being too lazy to put their plastic rubbish into the bin, it is going into the drains and out into the ocean.

Sea creatures are dying or getting sick from the plastic because they think that it is food so they eat it all up. As a result of swallowing the plastic they can’t breathe or are unable to eat so they might die. 

It is important that we think about our actions and make sure we put our plastic rubbish in the bin.


Toady we wrote an explanation about Why is it important to make wise choices. My writing was about the harm caused by plastic pollution. We can all help keep our sea creatures safe and our oceans clean by making sure we put our plastic rubbish in the bin.

6 Sentence Story

    
L.I Use 6 sentences to set up the structure of a narrative

Bob is playing Piano inside the machine late at  night, he could feel the passion from the music.The piano keys shone in the night light. Bob didn’t need to use any music sheets, he knew all the notes.Tonight the piano was making some strange noises and the music sounded like glass breaking.Bob was scared  the building was falling down and he was frightened for his life.He kept playing hoping the noise would go away and finally it stopped.

Today my group wrote 6 sentence stories to help us take risks with our writing. We did this by sharing our ideas and writing sentence that drop hints about what was happening in the picture we chose to write about. We helped each other by suggesting ideas to each other to make our stories more interesting.

Word Cline: Sad

LI: To find 5 interesting words that increase in intensity (have a stronger meaning) as you move up the line.



Today we used the thesaurus to make a word cline for the word ‘sad'. As the words go up the line they become more powerful. Here is an example of a sentence I wrote today using my word cline. My favourite sentence was: The women looked outside and felt gloomy when she saw the dark shadows.

Phonics 'a' sound

The girl has an apple and her hat.  The man was playing catch with a ball in the park.

This week for phonics we worked as a group to list all the words we knew with the 'a' sound.
We came up with 35 words. We then made a word ladder and came up with words up to 10 letters.
Then we wrote some silly sentences with some of the words from our list.
We also use 3 words to write sentences. These words were apple, hat and catch.
Our warm up was 2 words 1 minute, I think this is really fun.

We we playing a game called steady sticks outside a LS1. MR Wong tough us how to play steady sticks by challenging John. After that we started playing the game on the first round. The first round, I was challenged john. The Next round I was  challenged john. Then the last round I waschallenged john.

What do you want to sell

This week we were learning about what we want to sell to our teacher Mr Wong. I was selling Mr Wong a Lamborghini So I inserted a Lamborghini and named the tittle of it. Then we had to do loaded words and emotive texts. We had to look at 2 poster's and watch videos. Then we had to type in the words in the poster and what they say in the video

Speech finals

Today it was the speech finals.There were 12 kids that were
in the finals. The judge came to PBS to judge the speakers.
My favorite poem was Earth Day because we can make the
earth clean so we don’t have pollution in the ocean. 
We can pick up rubbish so the birds in the sky do not eat it.
My favorite speech was Fau’s because if we talk to a person
and if they answer to you and say something don’t ignore it
say something.

L.I To Identify persuasive text.
For writing we learned the meaning of persuasive. Persuasive means convincing someone  to believe you. Our Task was that we had 5 different kind  of persuasive text.
The 5 different persuasive text were-Letter,Speech,advertisement,article and review.
I learned the meaning of  persuasive.
I learned by listing to the teacher and finding out the meaning of the word that put in 5 persuasive text and put it to the right boxes
