Hauora

 LI: To draw and label your own Hauora diagram


In order to be able to perform at their best athletes need to have a four walls of the whare tapawha standing. We created this poster to show what each wall represents and why it is important and we aslo had to learn what the four walls means. I found out that an athlete could be better than they could be, whilst making themselves more stable if they ever lose I enjoyed making the poster Because I could see that if all these athletes had these 4 walls they could make themselves better than they already are.

Hauora

 LI: To show our understanding of Hauora in context.

Athletes are trained to be physically and mentally fit because it helps their body and their mind accomplish more by pushing their limits. 

Having all 4 walls of your whare tapa wha is important so you can feel balanced, if your whare tapa wha is down you will feel unbalance and it will be easier to lose focus and it makes you feel nervous, but as long as your whare tapa wha is balanced you will feel proud of yourself even if you lose because losing is a good thing because you can train more and not make that mistake again.

If you win you will feel accomplished and feel happy with all the hard work you have put in to your training it will help you feel successful when you have won.

Mindfulness reflection

LI: to understand the definition of mindfulness. 



Mindfulness is relaxing your body, and having a calm mindset. Mindfulness discriminates against all the negative emotions going throughout your mind. This makes us more engaged in our learning and the things we are doing.  


Today we had a session in LS2 about mindfulness. To relax our minds and bodies we took a few minutes to breathe in and out. This helped us clear our heads and clear our thoughts. It is treated as a taonga ( with a level of respect ).

Matariki Brochure

Matariki is the Maori new year celebration. It takes places each year when the cluster of stars known as Matariki are seen in our skies. The new year is a time for new beginnings and is a time to embrace tradition. To share our research with people we have created a brochure about what each star represents, how we can celebrate Matariki, what it is, and how we can celebrate the Matariki. 

Something I found interesting was that I am able to show what Matariki is to people who doesn't understand it and i enjoy it beacuse it is a give us exmple about what we wirte about matariki in a brochure.

Coding in python

L.I : To Learn how to code the Microbot in the Phyton.

 Here is an example of the buttons,  the main thing to notice is "def" which is defining what the on_button_pressed will make the microbot do. Again this has a top and bottom so the content has to go insde it. 

   

The first one image shows the Phyton coding for the flashing hearts code that I made. It flashes between a small heart icon and a large heart Icon. The diference between python coding is that block coding uses blocks and python coding uses text that you have to type down





Vision Board

My vision board shows the goals that are important to me. I am working hard to achive higher levels in Maths and Inquiry and have shown this with a picture of a trophy. My culture is important beacuse it represents where I belong. My vision is to have no bulling in schools and encourage storng firendships. Kindness

LI:To edit our writing using Draft  


Today we worked in pairs and created an abstract noun poem  to show what kindness means. When our poem was complete we used DRAFT to check our work and make it more powerful to read.

DRAFT means:  Delete , Rearrange, Add , Fix, Talk

In our poem we used the Five senses which are taste, smell, hear,  touch, feel and see .
We checked for correct punctuation including capital letters, full stops and commas.


An abstract noun is one that refers to an idea, quality or state that you cannot touch , see or hear.


 My partner and I enjoyed this task because it help us to get more information about kindness and help learn how to be kind.

 LI: To learn how to code in MaLI To learn how to code the microbit to play rock papaer scissors and understand how the flowchart matches the code.

1. When I shake the microbit it will choose a random number between 1 and 3

2. I have to make a variable called hand and set this to the random number.

3. If the number is 1 - the microbit will show the symbol for paper

4. If the number is 2 - the microbit will show the symbol for rock

5. If the number is 3 - the microbit will show the symbol for scissors

 LI:To write a Abstract noun senses poem


An abstract noun refers to an idea, quality or state that you can't see, hear, touch or smell. 

For example: Life looks like a busy street bustling with people beginging their day.

The five senses are hear, smell, taste, touch, feel.

A metaphor is comparing two things, saying one thing is the other without using 'like' or 'as'.

for example Happiness is rhe sun rising in my heart.

Forming an Opinion

 LI: to consider both perspectives.


To continue our learning of Matariki, and the Maori story of Creation our task was to create a DLO to explain the evidence and perspective of a maori story. We read about Sacred Spots from Māori Mythology. We used the different evidence from the articles to create an opinion on whether we think it is true or false.The story we chose to do was about the Tongariro National Park. This story talked about the mountains that surrounded Taupo lake, they were all male except for one. Her name was Pihanga. They fought for the love of Pihanga, only one came out victorious. That mountain was Tongariro. 




Main ideas

 LI: to identify the main ideas in the text.


To continue our learning of Matariki, and the Maori story of Creation our task was to create a DLO explaining the main ideas of the story of how maui slowed the sun. We watched a video explaining the story of how maui slowed the sun and why.

Maui and the villagers weren’t able to finish off their tasks during the day because the sun went by too fast. They got sick of it so maui and his brother made a plan to slow the sun. They used flax ropes and he magical jawbone Maui was given by his grandmother. 


i like this actviete because it helps the students with their Maine Ideas to talk more infromation about how maui slowed the sun

Descriptive

LI: To understand how to use descriptive words to make your writing more interesting.




Our task was to describe one of the two pictures that we were given. To make this task easier we would use our prior knowledge of sentence structures, nouns, verbs, adjectives, and descriptive words to create a piece of writing that uses descriptive words to make the text exciting to read. I found this interesting DLO because it help the student and aslo makes facts about the trutle and also helps students that need help to learn and get more information about the Barn.

Wedge

LI: To find the information for simple machines. 

We collaborated in our group to find information about simple machines. There are 6 simple machines. They are, wheel and axle, screw, wedge, pulley, lever, and an inclined plane. Our challenge was to create labelled diagrams. Using the information and facts we found we created a 25 word summary for each simple machine. A wedge is a simple machine that is used to push things apart

Lever

 LI: To find the information for simple machines. 

 

 We collaborated in our group to find information about simple machines. There are 6 simple machines. They are, wheel and axle, screw, wedge, pulley, lever, and an inclined plane. Our challenge was to create labelled diagrams. Using the information and facts we found we created a 25 word summary for each simple machine. The lever consists of 3 main parts, Effort, Load and Pivot. Depending on how heavy the object is, the lever would go up (side where the lightest object is) or down (side where the heaviest object is.

Screw

 

 LI: to find the information about simple machine


 We collaborated in our group to find information about simple machines. There are 6 simple machines. They are, wheel and axle, screw, wedge, pulley, lever, and an inclined plane. Our challenge was to create labelled diagrams. Using the information and facts we found we created a 25 word summary for each simple machine. A screw or another word for nail is a round sharp point metal pin that screws things in.

 LI: To follow the rules and expectations, expected from teachers. 


This weeks PB4L learning is about following classroom rules and expectations. PB4L is a acronym describing Positive Behavior for Learning. PB4L helps us understand the correct behavior for inside classroom learning and outer learning. This consist of Classroom discussions, walking to assembly, behaviour on school trips, wet day procedure eg. respecting wet day monitors. All of these prospects will help us develop a strong and healthy learning enviroment. I found this activity fun because it helps us in the reallity.

Today we had book week we had to dress up in our favourite  characters  and even we had to make motivated our self we saw spiderman and we learn form him he made us laugh and he ask us his question and we answer his question then he tell one of the student to stand up and said the magic word to make him dance.

Cinquain Poem

LI: To write a cinquain poem to describe a sports star



This week We have been learning to write cinquain poems to help us strengthen our connections to description. A cinquain poem has 5 lines. Each line has a different purpose. Line 1 is a noun which is a name. Line 2 has 2 adjectives taht describe the noun. Line 3 has 3 verbs that end in ‘ing’ and describe the actions. Line 4 is a noun phrase which is a group of words (not a sentence) that go together to describe the noun. Line 5 is a synonym which is a word with a similar meaning to the noun. I enjoyed this activity because it give us more infromation about steven adams and also give us hints about his ideas so he can get more motivated.

This week is book week at Panmure Bridge School, which means every class participates in a number of reading activities. One of our activities was to create a reading pathway that shows how my favourite books have changed over time. At the moment I like reading ghost because it kinda scaring and it more infromation about the ghost.

Simple Machine

LI: To use technological practices process to design a toy.

For Mrs Fisi’iahi’s Inquiry lesson, we were focusing on the three last technological processes. They were: build, test and evaluate. We used the required materials in order to build the AUV rover. After this, we tested and compared each group’s rover to see which group was able to scramble across the floor the furthest. Evaluating our results was the last step. 

I found this activity very fun because we have been given the chance to create our designs and make tests and evaluations. The results are in the DLO.

This week for Reading we learnt about author's purpose. Authors write for a purpose/reason. These reasons are to Persuade, Inform, Explain or Entertain (PIE).First we looked at Kiwi Kids News to find a article. Then, we made a copy of the Current Events DLO and answered these questions.

Sentence starters

LI: To understand how to use a variety of sentence beginnings.

This week for writing we had to be in paris that can work togther then we make a DLO to show us what are Sentence starters a Sentence starters mean Similar to sentence frames, sentence starters provide a partial frame for students to begin their sentence or idea. However, sentence starters only begin the idea, and students must complete then me and my panrter work and talk to each other about what Sentence starters we will make.

I am Diana and I am Cook Island and Maori. I am 12 years old and have three older sisters and one brother. I love to eat Rukau which is a Cook Island  food.  I like to watch Anime my favorite ones are Akame ga Kill,one piece, beastars, Adventure of Sinbad and Shokugeki no Soma. Running is my favourite sport and I also like skipping. I like listening to kpop my favorite is black pink, exo ,twice, txt. This year my goal is to show kindness and be confident.

This week challenge was to create a map using google/mymaps and drop pins on the locations visited. The next part of this challenge was to find the capital city of each place and include it in the information in the pin. 

the place i want to visit the most is cook islands because it is the most beautiful island that a  dateline in the Pacific Ocean, the Cook Islands has long attracted travelers with the promise of crystal-clear water, a diverse marine life, and a strong connection to Polynesian culture. But now there's another reason to visit: a focus on sustainable tourism.

TEEL Paragraphs

This week we have been learning to use transitional vocabulary to help us link ideas between the sentences in our paragraph. The transitional words are like the doors we walk through and to show how this works in writing we have highlighted them. I enjoyed this activity because we got to try using new words in our writing and we worked collaboratively so we got to share our ideas.

Why it is important to be Hydrated

     L.I To understand why staying hydrated is important for our health and for our learning. 

 The DLO showing above was created by my group.My group created this DLO by finding different type of  information and facts about being Hydrated and Dehydrated. My group created this by sharing our ideas and working collaboratively . As example Hydrated mean drinking heaps of water which helps you stay focused.  Being dehydrated means feeling dizzy, having headaches and not focused. Did you know that drinking a lot of Water helps your body and also helps you stay healthy. We also found images that connects to the text so that it could also help  yourself and others what we’re talking about and to understand more about what we’re learning in our Inquiry task.

Pie chart

 LI: To  plan and carry out a statistical investigation



For Maths today our task was to make a pie chart of LS2's favorite anime. First we had to decide what our question would be then go around and ask people what their favourite anime is and record the information.

To help us colllate the information we got an A3 piece paper and and we had to cut out the squares with our answers on, then  glue it on the paper so we could easily see our data.

This task was pretty easy but hard at the same time because we had to collect a lot of data.

Summary of the Treaty of Waitangi


The Treaty of Waitangi brings peace to New Zealand.  Our task was to read a article which was about The Treaty of Waitangi. When we were finished reading we had to use this summarising template to help us create a paragraph telling us some of the snapshot of the story of the treaty. This task was really fun because it got me to learn about the past and help me to learn how important it is for New Zealand.
